Thorough test conducted by German Car & Hifi magazine (01/2019): ZENEC’s new multimedia system for the VW T5 Multivan and California awarded the „Highlight“ accolade.
The triumphal march of the vehicle-specific ZENEC E>GO Series continues. Specially developed for the VW T5 Multivan and California, the new Infotainer Z-E2060 is another really successful model in the product range of the Swiss multimedia specialist ZENEC. The German Car & HiFi trade magazine has now thoroughly tested the „Bulli Specialist“ in issue 01/2019. „A great entertainment solution for the VW T5“, is the enthusiastic verdict of the trade journalists, awarding the Z-E20160 the „Highlight“ accolade.
PERFECT FIT FOR VW T5 MULTIVAN
As regards vehicle integration the Z-E2060 has already convinced the testers right down the line. ZENEC’s new infotainer integrates not only perfectly in the instrument panel of the latest Bulli, but with its comprehensive features and functionality is also perfectly tailored to the VW T5 – including all electrical connections. „The CAN interface enables communication with the onboard vehicle electronics“, say the journalists of the multimedia device: „functions like steering wheel remote control, parking radar, and climate control are supported by the Z-E2060“.
MULTIMEDIA FOR EXPERTS
With a CD/DVD drive, two USB connections, and the HDMI port the Z-E2060 is optimally equipped with all the multimedia functions, according to the tech journalists. In addition there is the DAB+ tuner for „crystal clear noise-free reception“ of digital radio, as well as many sound tools; for example, the 10-band equalizer and finely adjustable time alignment. „In the test lab the Z-E2060 does not put a foot wrong“, is the verdict of the critical journalists. „Picture quality and sound are also impressive.“
OPTIMAL OPERATION, OPTIMAL PRICING
The journalists agree that the „new“ ZENEC will excite drivers of the Bulli – and not just because of the „attractive“ price. Also the ease of use leaves nothing to be desired for the Car & HiFi testers. „Thanks to the clear menus, hard keys and rotary knobs you soon have the wide range of functions of the Z-E2060 under control. The large 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) capacitive touchscreen is brilliant and reacts promptly at the touch of a finger.“
TWOFOLD NAVIGATION SOLUTION
The Z-E2060 is able to not only use multimedia, but can also be used as a navigation system – SmartLink makes that possible: „This is because the SmartLink function allows the screen content of the smartphone to be mirrored on the ZENEC“, explain the testers. „The apps, including navigation on the mobile phone, can then be controlled from the touchscreen of the ZENEC.“ This is done by simply connecting the Android phone to one of the two USB ports.
But even without SmartLink the ZENEC Infotainer can be upgraded to a navigation device extremely easily. „If you would rather have offline navigation integrated, simply order the Z-EMAP50 software at the same time to turn the ZENEC from a moniceiver into a full-function navitainer“, is the enthusiastic opinion of the testers.
SUMMARY WITH FLYING COLORS
According to the verdict of the tech journalists the Z-E2060 has „mastered the test course with flying colors“. „With the Z-E2060 ZENEC offers the full range of media, communications and navigation features for the popular Bulli VW T5“, states the summary of the well-respected tech journalists. The Z-E2060 is, according to the testers, „a great entertainment solution for the VW T5“.
